2018 NFL Weekly Pick ‘Em: WEEK ONE

Philadelphia Eagles -2 vs. Atlanta Falcons:

The Pick: Eagles and give the points. The Eagles are one of the better teams in the league on both sides of the  ball. At home following their Super Bowl victory a season ago, I expect the Eagles to come out victorious, even with Nick Foles behind center. Eagles 24 Falcons 17

Pittsburgh Steelers -4 at Cleveland Browns:

The Pick: Steelers and give the points. Many are willing to take the points in this divisional matchup. I do feel that the Browns are vastly improved,  but I still have a hard time seeing the Browns limiting the Pittsburgh offense for four quarters. Steelers 27 Browns 20

San Francisco 49ers +6 at Minnesota Vikings:

The Pick: 49ers and take the points. I’m expecting this to be one of the better games of the weekend. The Vikings are loaded on both sides of the football, and our home, so signs point to a cover here, however, I think the 49ers are one of the more improved teams in the NFL in 2018, and they keep it close. Vikings 24 49ers 20

Cincinnati Bengals +3 at Indianapolis Colts:

The Pick: Bengals and take the points. This one is an easy one for me. Nothing against Andrew Luck and his comeback, but the Colts defense is atrocious. I have the Bengals winning this game outright, so I will certainly take the points. Bengals 27 Colts 21

Baltimore Ravens -7 vs. Buffalo Bills:

The Pick: Ravens and give the points. With Nathan Peterman at QB for the Bills, it is very difficult to foresee much offense being generated on Sunday. I expect the game to be a bit ugly, but the Ravens to win by more than one score. Ravens 23 Bills 10

Jacksonville Jaguars -3 at New York Giants:

The Pick: Jaguars and give the points. I’m expecting a thorough domination on both sides of the football here. The Jaguars win going away on the back of the best defense in the NFL and a strong running game. Jaguars 31 Giants 6

New Orleans Saints -9.5 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

The Pick: Saints and give the points. Traditionally, I don’t like giving more than one score, but this feels like the right side. The Saints at home with a defense that has shown it can match the offense–the Bucs are the lambs being led to the slaughter here. If Jameis was under center, it might be a different story. Saints 34 Buccaneers 13

Carolina Panthers -3 vs. Dallas Cowboys:

The Pick: Panthers and give the points. This pick has as much to do with the abysmal off season that the Dallas Cowboys have had, as it is about the Carolina Panthers. I struggle to see how the Cowboys can have sustained offense with a lack of weapons. Panthers 23 Cowboys 16

Houston Texans +6.5 at New England Patriots:

The Pick: Texans and take the points. I may regret this decision, but yes, I am picking against the Patriots at home. The Patriots have come out sluggish in recent seasons–so if you are going to catch them, catch them early. I am expecting this to be high scoring, and I think that DeShaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, and company to give the Patriots some problems. Patriots 31 Texans 27

Tennessee Titans -1.5 at Miami Dolphins:

The Pick: Titans and take the points. I’ve gone on record to say I believe that the Miami Dolphins are one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Titans seem to be a team heading in the right direction. Titans 27 Dolphins 13

Los Angeles Chargers -3 vs. Kansas City Chiefs:

The Pick: Chargers and give the points. The Chiefs have a very bright future, but the future isn’t now. The Chargers match up very well against a Chiefs team that is lackluster on the defensive side of the ball. I’m buying all the Chargers stock I can get. Chargers 34 Chiefs 24

Denver Broncos -3 vs. Seattle Seahawks:

The Pick:  Broncos and give the points. The Seattle Seahawks are another team that had a poor offseason, and I believe it will spill into the 2018 regular season. I really like what the Denver Broncos have done adding Case Keenum to stabilize this offense. Broncos 19 Seahawks 10

Washington Redskins +1 at Arizona Cardinals:

The Pick: Redskins and take the point. This is one of the tougher games to pick, if I’m being honest. I give the slightest edge to the Redskins, even on the road. Redskins 20 Cardinals 17

Chicago Bears +7.5 at Green Bay Packers:

The Pick: Bears and take the points. Picking against Aaron Rodgers in prime time, few have lived and tell about it. I love the addition of Khalil Mack to the Bears defense, this should provide them a jolt that they just haven’t had in quite some time. Divisional rivalries, these teams know each other as well as anyone, hence the reason why I want to take the points. Packers 27 Bears 21

Detroit Lions -6.5 vs. New York Jets:

The Pick: Lions and give the points. The Detroit Lions are one of the more fascinating teams heading into the 2018 season. They have the playmakers to succeed, and the Lions want to get more physical up front–something I always like to hear. New York Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold has a very bright future, but I expect the Lions to put the clamps down on him in his debut. Lions 24 Jets 10

Los Angeles Rams -4 at Oakland Raiders:

The Pick: Rams and give the points. The Los Angeles Rams are going to put on a show on Monday Night. The Raiders will have no answers for them. Rams 34 Raiders 13
