Clelin Ferrell Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: Clelin Ferrell has the size, frame, and athleticism that NFL teams covet…he gets off the line quickly and gets his hands on the opposition quickly, and effectively…his length allows him to bring down the ball carrier even when he is engaged on a block…plays with a high level of tenacity and aggressiveness…

WEAKNESSES: Clelin Ferrell needs to develop additional flexibility…needs to work on developing the edge and getting to the passer with speed…questionable pass rushing ability in a two-point stance…not the type of player you want to drop into coverage…don’t overcomplicate things…

COMP: Marcus Davenport

OVERALL: Clelin Ferrell has developed into a complete player…solid as a pass rusher, and as a run defender…he’s a 4-3 defensive end—period…size and length to win at the next level…Clelin Ferrell is just scratching the surface of his potential…Clelin Ferrell may not have the scheme versatility of a Brian Burns or Montez Sweat, so he may not have as many suitors as his contemporaries, so his stock may slide a bit more than others…Clelin Ferrell still has an element of safety in his draft stock, so I would continue to expect Ferrell to be drafted in the mid-late portion of the 1st round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
