Cody Ford Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: The first thing that shows up on the tape is the power displayed by Cody Ford…profiles to be a potentially dominant force in the run game…remarkably quick with agile feet for a man 6’4 330…if Ford gets his bear paws on you, it’s a wrap…does a good job of not reaching and resulting in holding penalties…plays with a nastiness that defines the position…Cody Ford is a thick athlete and is going to be able to hold up to the more physical style of the NFL…

WEAKNESSES: Despite having quick feet—Cody Ford’s feet are a bit erratic and clumsy at times…his arch-nemesis is the skilled speed rusher—they give him problems too often…his hips are a bit too stiff…Cody Ford’s leverage is inconsistent and needs further development…many in the scouting community feel that given his profile, he is going to have to kick inside to the offensive guard position…

COMP: Cordy Glenn

OVERALL: Cody Ford’s projection per each NFL team clearly comes down to whether they think he is an Offensive Guard, or projects to play Right Tackle…I think you will get varying opinions on this subject…regardless, I think you see the upside in a prospect such as this…Cody Ford is built to play in the NFL…I don’t believe Ford has the pass blocking acumen of a Jawaan Taylor, Jonah Williams, or Andre Dillard, but he slides in neatly as the 4th ranked offensive lineman…Cody Ford looks like a 1st round lock and will likely be drafted in the late teens-early 20’s of the 2019 NFL Draft.
