D’Andre Walker Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: D’andre Walker is a bigger asset in run defense than he is as a pass rusher…Walker has experience playing in a two-point and a three-point stance…a high IQ football player…he doesn’t run himself out of the play very often…D’Andre Walker is a high-energy player who gives it everything that he has every single play…plays with great leverage and good pad level…gets under taller lineman and pushes them back into the pocket…there’s untapped upside here…

WEAKNESSES: The first thing that I saw on film was a lack of pass rushing…if he wins, he wins purely based on his traits…Walker has a lack of pass rushing moves…when he is engaged by the offensive lineman, he has a high level of difficulty in getting off of the block…needs to improve when using his hands to dislodge the opposition…does not have the acceleration to threaten offensive tackles off the edge as a speed rusher…

COMP: Haason Reddick

OVERALL: D’Andre Walker’s draft stock is a bit more fluid than most pass rushers in this class…Walker’s Scouting Combine performance is going to go a long value in establishing his value…needs to show well in the cone drills and illustrate his ability to bend the edge…so far in his collegiate career, D’Andre Walker has shown much more in the run stuffing department than he has as a pass rusher—and this will be the obvious concern to scouts and GMs…that being said, there is additional development here, and you can see a relatively high ceiling…I like D’Andre Walker as a late 3rd-early 4th round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
