Deebo Samuel Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: Deebo Samuel is one of the better technicians at the WR position in the 2019 NFL Draft…a smooth route runner who is crisp in and out of his breaks…good hands…catches the ball away from his body…savvy after the catch…a plus player in  YAC…plays with outstanding body control…can adjust on the fly…a versatile receiver who can win on the inside and on the outside…profiles to be an outstanding slot option at the next level…plays with a ‘chip on his shoulder’…gets after it…

WEAKNESSES: Deebo Samuel does not compare to many of his contemporaries when it comes to his physical stature…at just 5’11 he will not be able to develop into the red zone option that many teams covet…he admits that he has never been a big fan of developing his pass blocking—this is something he will have to do if he wants a full-time role in the NFL…various leg injuries throughout his time in college has to be a cause for concern for GMs and scouts…

COMP: Golden Tate

OVERALL: No player helped his stock following the Senior Bowl than did Deebo Samuel. Deebo does have some limitations, I can’t project him as a potential #1 WR, but he’s firmly in the #2 mix. I believe that Samuel can thrive as a chain-mover, specializing in underneath routes, focusing on his route running and quickness. I don’t see Deebo Samuel as a 1st rounder, but an early 2nd round selection could very well be in the offering.
