Demarkus Lodge Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: The calling card of DeMarkus Lodge’s game is his speed and ability to separate from defenders…a long-strider who gains ground on defenders with ease…you get the sense that there is a great deal of uncapped potential here…his accelerates at a high level off of the line of scrimmage…his footwork is exceptional…his work ethic is strong…he runs every route the same way—giving maximum effort…a physical player who doesn’t mind mixing it up with defenders…a plus blocker…

WEAKNESSES: DeMarkus Lodge’s evaluation feels incomplete given the limited passing tree that he was asked to run while at Ole Miss…his hands are wildly inconsistent—has the potential to make the spectacular catch, and then can drop the routine pass…length and physicality has shown to give Lodge a great deal of difficulty…

COMP: Robert Woods

OVERALL: Demarkus Lodge is the least noteworthy of the three Ole Miss WR prospects. That’s not to say that he doesn’t have high value heading into the draft process. There is a lot of nuance and development needed here, but there is no denying that there is significant upside as well. Demarkus Lodge’s draft stock is a bit more volatile than others, and his Scouting Combine results will go a long way in solidifying his position. For the time being, I would consider him a late 2nd-3rd round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
