Dru Samia Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: Dru Samia is a powerful offensive guard who has a good initial punch that drives defenders back off the line of scrimmage…good mobility beyond the line of scrimmage allows him to reach the second level and pick up additional blocks…great ability to pull and lead the play…plays with a good base…good, strong hands…Dru Samia has that nasty streak that teams covet…

WEAKNESSES: Dru Samia struggles when he has to move side to side to pick up key blocks…questionable role in pass blocking…struggles a great deal against speed rushers…plays off-balance at times due to lack of lateral agility…does not have the length that the NFL looks for in their offensive lineman…

COMP: Dan Feeney

OVERALL: Dru Samia is a very good athlete still learning to play the offensive guard position. Despite starting three seasons on the inside, Samia will need to adapt his game to the NFL. Dru Samia is going to need to go through some growing pains with bigger, longer athletes at the NFL level. There is a high level of upside here, but this upside does come with it’s level of concerns. Knowing how the NFL believes they can coach up talents like Dru Samia, I would expect to see Samia drafted somewhere in the 2nd-3rd round range in the 2019 NFL Draft.
