Hakeem Butler Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: It’s impossible not to notice the towering length and frame that comes with a prospect the likes of Hakeem Butler…a downfield dynamo…Hakeem Butler is a nightmare to sop in the deep passing game…plays stronger than his lean frame would suggest…stronger YAC than you would anticipate…Butler does a great job of high-pointing the football…an above average blocker in the run game…

WEAKNESSES: Hakeem Butler needs to work on the finer things as it relates to his development…does not play the game with much nuance or vary his technique…his catching needs refinement—allows the ball to get into his body far too often…would like to see his upper body work in conjunction with lower half—plays a bit stiff at times…

COMP: Josh Gordon

OVERALL: Hakeem Butler is clearly a unique talent—one in which could potentially confound GMs and scouts. Butler is a very ‘raw’ prospect who may not be ready to hit the ground running at the NFL level…a player with his measureables and upside will continue to garner his share of attention…teams and scouts alike are all over the map on Hakeem Butler, some have him as a 1st rounder, some have him as a 3rd rounder…I believe he falls somewhere in between, a likely dynamic 2nd round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
