Jawaan Taylor Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: At 6’5 334—Jawaan Taylor looks how you would imagine a NFL offensive lineman to look…he has the size that teams covet…he has the length to contend with bigger, longer athletes in the NFL game…he has very powerful hands, and a powerful strike that can disengage pass rushers…

WEAKNESSES: Jawaan Taylor is yet another offensive lineman prospect who struggles with speed and quickness on the outside…given that fact, his future may very well be on the inside at offensive guard…he plays too high at times and doesn’t play with proper leverage…a NFL bull rush will cause him to backpedal into the backfield…needs to develop a stronger lower half in order to drive the opposition off the ball…

COMP: Andrus Peat

OVERALL: Jawaan Taylor has the physical stature and capabilities to succeed at the NFL level, but he will need a good deal of refinement. Tell me if you’ve heard this before, Jawaan Taylor may have to kick inside to offensive guard to get on to the field. Where as he won’t have to compete with the elite speed off of the edge, he will have to face off with the most powerful defensive lineman on planet earth, and if Taylor doesn’t correct his leverage issue, he will be in for a world of hurting. The NFL scouting community seems to like him a great deal more than me, hyping him as a 1st round selection. I see his value, but I’m not buying the 1st round chatter, I view Jawaan Taylor as a mid-late 2nd round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
