Taylor Rapp Scouting Report

STRENGTHS: Taylor Rapp is a tremendous tackler…Rapp is best suited to Cover 2 or an in the box Safety role…a very physical player…doesn’t mind battling with larger targets, in particular the TE position…plays with an aggressiveness that you like to see…a high IQ football player who reads and reacts as well as any safety prospects in this class…plays 100% every snap…love the effort…

WEAKNESSES: Taylor Rapp is not the safety you play as a single high option…he does not possess the same quickness and range that some of his contemporaries have…does not have the ball skills that teams covet in those ‘game changing’ type of plays…tight hips…does not transition as fluidly as you would like to see…does not play the game well moving side to side anywhere near as well as he does coming downhill on the play…you don’t want to match him up with quicker, twitchier athletes…

COMP: D.J. Swearinger

OVERALL: Taylor Rapp is your flavor of safety if you like the hard hitting, run stuffing, physical brand of player…you like seeing his mental process pop off the screen as you evaluate the film on Rapp…it’s important to understand his limitations…Taylor Rapp is not the middle of the field type of safety who can cover sideline to sideline…that’s just simply not his game…I do like his ability to match-up with physical athletes at the TE position…I don’t see him as a 1st rounder, but he certainly has the feel of a solid 2nd round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
